Hi! I’m Katie, a certified dog trainer, dog walker, and pet sitter based in downtown Wilmington, NC. I have a wonderful husband and 2 beautiful dogs - Bobby and Tahoe.
I've always had dogs in my life as I love their personalities and kind hearts! As such, I decided to become a certified dog trainer. I spent 2 years working for a no-kill dog shelter - MaxFund - in Denver as the head dog trainer and kennel manager. I've also owned my own dog sitting business as well. I've gained lots of experience training all breeds and sizes of dogs, from service dogs to those with a bite history. I love connecting with animals as they all have a kind soul.
On a daily basis, I love walking and playing with dogs! Watching their faces light up when I walk in the door makes my day!
No matter the service, I always aspire to remain consistent, communicate often, and provide the highest standard of care!

Principles - what makes me different
There are many philosophies as it relates to pet care and training techniques. I believe in positive reinforcement techniques in all interactions I have with your pet(s). I never use chokers or ??? While these may lead to the desired result temporarily, research shows that long-term benefits are limited and oftentimes detrimental. I believe in treating your dog with love and taking a more authoritarian approach.
When I walk your dog, know that your dog will also receive a bit of training /reinforcement of positive-learned habits. I work with clients to make sure both owner and dogs are happy and provide relevant suggestions should the need arise. I also take many pictures so that owners feel like a part of the walk and can continue to enjoy their pet even when not present.

Communication is key!
I provide consistent updates and pictures during every interaction. If I have concerns, you can feel confident that I will provide the necessary feedback to you.
Consistency
Unlike some other services, you and your pet will deal with 1 walker/sitter. It allows for us to form a bond, making both you and your pet comfortable.
Professionalism
Not only do I have experience as a dog walker and sitter, but I'm also a certified trainer. I've also led operations at a dog shelter, so I've dealt with many different breeds, temperaments, and know signs of behavioral and health issues, allowing me to provide a higher standard of care.
Friendship & Trust
It takes a leap of faith for pet parents to allow walkers / sitters in their residences. I provide the upmost level of care for your pet and home. I not only value your business, but I value our working relationship as it's the lifeblood of what I do and represent.
